What is Shock Wave Therapy?
Shock wave is a noninvasive, high-energy sound wave treatment commonly used in human and veterinary medicine. It helps the body in relieving pain, speeding healing, and improving the quality of healing.

What can I expect from a shock wave treatment?
An average treatment is relatively fast and easy, typically 10-15 minutes. Because we are dealing with sound energy and deep healing, mild and reversible sedation can be administered in uncomfortable patients or additional therapies maybe used along with the treatment. The ultimate goal is to ensure the animal’s comfort.
Based on your animal’s injury and treatment goals, we will select the trode and number of pulses to be administered based on the depth and type of injury of the target tissue.
Results are often seen in the first treatment, however, more painful/severe injuries require 1-3 treatments to see long lasting results. Due to the pain-relieving action of the treatment, it’s important that the animal is rested the first 48-72 hours after treatment (confinement is typically not necessary). It’s important to follow your animals specific post-treatment directions since they will vary based on your pet’s specific condition.
